Description
Bee monitoring project began in 2013 with bee bowls deployed throughout the Burlington Intervale, a large open space consisting of vegetable and flower farms, mature riparian buffers, and old fields. Sporadic sampling occurred in 2013, 2014, and 2017 with more standardized sampling beginning in 2020.
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 2,932 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Sampling Methods
One transect comprised of 15 pan traps was deployed at each sampling location for approximately 24 hours. Each transect included 5 white, 5 blue, and 5 yellow bowls placed 5m apart. Transects were established along hedgerows or forest edges bordering farm fields. Coordinates represent the approximate center point of the 75 meter trap line.
Study Extent | Sampling periods were defined as: early summer (early-mid June), mid-summer (mid-late July), and late summer (late Aug/early Sept.). We attempted to sample twice during each period for a possible total of 6 sampling events per field season at each location. Additional wildland sampling was conducted in 2020 and 2021 at 4 locations during early spring (Mid-late May). |
