Description
Surveys of fish in Lewis Creek done as part of Spencer Hardy's Middlebury College undergraduate Biology thesis. All sampling done by wading with backpack electroshocker. Difficult identifications confirmed by Rich Langdon via photos. No specimens collected. Full report: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/338882041
Data Records
The data in this sampling event resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 27 records.
1 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Backpack electroshocking with dip nets and waders.
Study Extent | Lewis Creek Watershed, sampled periodically in spring and fall 2016 |

Quality Control | Difficult IDs checked by state fisheries biologist, Rich Langdon |
Method step description:
- Sampling was done in an upstream direction, attempting to cover the width of the channel and a representative selection of micro habitats. Sampling effort was recorded by the timer on the electorshocker (seconds of use). Individual fish caught, identified, recorded, and then released downstream. Unfamiliar species were kept in a bucket and identified at the end of the survey, photographed if necessary then released.
