Select Insect Specimens from Malaise Traps in Orleans County, Vermont, USA

Latest version published by Vermont Center for Ecostudies on 02 February 2022 Vermont Center for Ecostudies
This dataset contains select insects collected from two malaise traps located in Orleans County, Vermont, USA. The Malaise traps were set a few feet above the ground, with one in a suburban garden and the other in a rural yard at the interface between a large wetland complex and mixed hardwood forest. Collection vials were retrieved every few weeks as necessary during the growing season. All bees (Anthophila) and lady beetles (Coccinellidae) collected were identified and included in this dataset. Some other insects were included as incidental records. Ichneumonid wasps( Ichneumonidae) and other taxonomic groups will be added as they are processed and determined.

Data Records

The data in this sampling event resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 16 records.

1 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.

  • Event (core)
    16
  • Occurrence
    551

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
